Global asset manager cuts down development time from year to months

Find out how a large asset manager is using SigTech's quant technology research and trade macro strategies.

Global Asset Manager

SigTech stood out from the start as a credible partner to help us expand our Multi Asset business. What their team and platform achieved in months would have taken us over a year to build in-house. I was particularly impressed with the team’s knowledge of systematic trading and quant methodologies.

Case Study

Background
  • The firm was evaluating solutions to accelerate the development of a new research platform.
  • The legacy in-house research and trading infrastructure was fragmented, with each asset class hosted on a different platform.
  • There was an opportunity for multiple teams and asset classes to move to one, integrated platform.
  • The new system also needed to support intraday strategies to pave the way for future growth.
Implementation
  • SigTech seconded an infrastructure engineer and two quant developers to our client for one month each, to assist with the onboarding and integration process.
  • To onboard single stocks, SigTech collaborated with our client to populate SigTech’s security master builder with their internal security master data feed.
  • SigTech helped to integrate the instrument level simulation engine with its in-house infrastructure.
  • For six months, SigTech worked alongside the client’s quant teams in each asset class to assist with onboarding initial systematic strategies and train the researchers and traders in SigTech APIs.
Results
  • Research and trading for all macro strategies are conducted on the same research platform.
  • SigTech’s simulation engine is a core component – onboarding has also begun for equities and options. SigTech’s data API functionality enabled our client to seamlessly integrate with its data lake.
  • The modular approach to data integration helps our client to model transaction costs more easily and manage the trade lifecycle at instrument level, which allows for more realistic simulations.
  • Following the completion of the Multi Asset Solutions project, other business units (e.g equities, fixed income) can now easily use the same research platform for their trading strategies without the need for additional infrastructure.
